Cafe Owners

Community, passion, quality, recognition and profits: This is what you will acquire by sending your baristi to the Kona Barista Jam and Ultimate Barista Challenge Hawaii. After all, participation reaches well beyond the experience of the attendee! Your baristi will bring new skills and enthusiasm back to your cafe and infuse their co-workers and environment with them.

Community
The Hawaii coffee community is more complex than most coffee communities. After all, we not only serve the stuff, but we grow it as well! As the industry matures, its members are reaching beyond their cohorts to engage, befriend and learn from  others in the coffee world. When industry members attend statewide events, alliances are formed, ideas are born and everybody wins. We are stronger as ohana than as individuals. Coming together to jam and compete is a great way of facilitating this.

Passion
Baristi immersed in coffee culture unmask energy and passion they never realized existed. Coffee takes on an importance that transcends a day job. As baristi start to care more about the product, they seek out information to enrich the cafe and customer experience. Soon, fellow baristi feed off the energy and the whole cafe gains an aura that delights customers.

Quality, Recognition & Profits
The Kona Barista Jam and Ultimate Barista Challenge Hawaii aim to foster this excitement about coffee. Participating baristi will spend many hours building skills to implement in your cafes. Every drink they serve will taste better than it did before our two-day training. As fellow employees learn from them, the quality of your products will be enhanced.
Customers will sense -- and taste -- your cafe's passion and and bring friends there. With more customers excited about your cafe's environment and products, profits go up!
Also, if your barista wins the Ultimate Barista Challenge Hawaii, your cafe will earn bragging rights to the larger community. Baristi who win competitions make great material for advertisements, press releases and in-store promotions. If coffee drinkers know that an award-winning barista is working at a cafe, they make it a point to visit.
